Guest artist Micha Karlslund worked with the Hot Glass Team in the Amphitheater Hot Shop today to create blown glass cylinders. Once these cylinders are cooled, Micha applies decals all over the vessel to create three-dimensional images. See the team at work tomorrow 10 am to 4 pm with a break for lunch and Thursday 10 am to 12 pm!

We’re excited to have guest artist Micha Karlslund in the Amphitheater Hot Shop this week. Today, Micha and the Hot Glass Team created a cylinder coated with mica powder to give it a pearlescent finish. Micha’s work often involves applying decals to these types of cylinders to create three-dimensional images. See the team at work tomorrow and Wednesday 10 am to 4 pm with a break for lunch and on Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm.

See guest artist John Zinner during a live, narrated demonstration in the Amphitheater Hot Shop on April 30 from 2 to 4 pm. Zinner, a flameworker from Lauscha, Germany, will create a new figurative sculpture inspired by mythical creatures and nature.

Guest artist Philippe Nigro and the Hot Glass Team finished their week-long collaboration with a technically-difficult piece to execute. The tiles on this piece were fused together into a circle, placed into a pickup box, and then were picked up onto a cylinder. The team repeated this process twice. Stay tuned for a look at some of Philippe’s work out of the annealer!
